ThredUP Experience!

Hi guys!

It’s been awhile since I posted…but today I wanted to share my experience with ThredUP! I love clearing up my room and passing on items that I don’t find useful anymore. I  use Poshmark a lot and have found pretty great success in finding new homes for some of closet pieces. However, there have been some pieces that just can’t sell and in desperation to send them off, I stumbled upon ThredUP! You request a “selling kit” and they send you a large plastic big with a prepaid shipping label. After washing and folding the clothes, you can send it along to thredup! My first took about two weeks to get there and an additional 3 weeks for it to get processed. During this time, the people at ThredUP sort through the items, take photos, and makes listing for the ones they consider “sellable” with prices they come up with themselves.

I sent a very large bag and these are the items they took on, click here.

I earned 29.33…but they were a LOT of items so I only made about 0.20 to 0.50 cents per item. They accepted 32 items, which was 67% of my bag.

I was pretty surprised at the actual items they accepted…some that I was sure they would toss but I wanted to see what they would take. For each item, they also mark what was “used” or brand new. Their opinions on some of my clothing shocked me. There was a dress that I had never worn, but they considered it to be used, whereas as older items were considered “perfect condition.”

Overall, thredUP is perfect for the items you’re ready to part with, with no remorse! You also have the option go having unaccepted items returned to you via post for a fee.

REVERSE THAT SHOWER!

Alright, I personally LOVE taking showers as many people do. We love feeling and being clean. After a long day of work and school, a shower really relaxes me…same goes for a nice bath. I’m talking about my bathing habits to bring up TRESemme’s reverse shampoo system.

I am a member of the influenster community, where this shampoo and conditioner were sent to me so that I can try it out and see what I love and don’t love about it! Influenster is great because we as consumers get to test out products and give our inputs for consideration. My Cup of Tea

Rese, being the best sister ever, found a groupon for a “tea experience” in downtown. My sister and I both love British culture and a good deal, thus spending an afternoon sipping tea sounded delightful.

Let me walk you through our experience!

We stepped into the shop with a nice surprise of how white, gold, and bright this shop was. There were a handful of tables open and the hosts quickly greeted us and explained their recent opening. We chose a table and sat down. The cake rack on the table was traded in for a menu. We both chose Earl Grey tea.

The host returned with the cake rack now filled with some tea sized sncks.  This included a small cream cheese & dill sandwich on white sliced bread, two quarter sized cookies (one was pretty tasty and one was pretty stale), a thin scone, and a mini cupcake. This left us desiring more… other tea establishments have been more filling with more options and decadent treats.

The tea was looseleaf and served per person. We were given a cute tea kettle of hot water and an hourglass timer for seeping time.

My favorite aspect of the tea shop was the ambience. The decorations were gorgeous, and provided a modern yet classic aspect to this tea room. The tea shop’s decoration was focused primarily on one hue, gold.

The groupon was $19 for two people, original value being $32. She had a discount code, bringing the groupon down to $9, thankfully. We each received one cup of tea , a small cream cheese & dill sandwich on white sliced bread, two quarter sized cookies (one was pretty tasty and one was pretty stale), a thin scone, and a mini cupcake. This left us desiring more… other tea establishments have been more filling with larger options and decadent treats.

Target’s newest beauty box has finally arrived to my front door (not really, it was in my mailbox)!  Like always, Rese and I both ordered one, however I was hesitant on ordering one due to still having a lot of products to try out. I love testing out new products, but there are still quite a handful of products from previous boxes that are unopened. I think this is due to less focus on skincare and beauty during the semester, like I want to have good skin and try out more products and see what works best so that I can hopefully achieve a stage of never needing foundation–that’s the dream right? Anyways, it’s just laziness to test out new products since I put my energy into school and pampering myself seems almost like a waste of time…but it’s May and that means summer (kinda, still taking more classes😕). Now that I wrote that, I’m thinking how taking care of my skin is actually an okay procrastination compared to other activities, like watching Youtube videos. I’m making a note of that for future semesters. Overall, I did cave and order one for myself.

This month’s box included some great products, as well as products that have been in previous boxes. What really drew me in to ordering a new box was the Loreal Colour Riche La Lacque Lip Pen, I’m the biggest fan on lip products and I hadn’t seen this lip pen before. What kinda sucks, is that I receive a red (205- Lacque and Roll) which is an okay color, I haven’t tried it on but it seems a bit bright for my skin tone. Also, red is not really an everyday color for me in my engineering courses, haha. Rese also received the same color.

There was also a dry shampoo, which is a repeat product, but I really liked it and travel size dry shampoos are so handy for travel (duh Ry, that was an obvious statement). Another repeat product was the Laneige Water Bank Moisture Cream. This face lotion smells so amazing. Oh my gosh, after writing that sentence I actually went to look up and see if it was for my face cause every time I used it, my face got very oily and I wondered if I was using it inappropriately. Thankfully I was’t, this is a facial cream for normal to dry skin. My skin is pretty oily, so this product was not for me but the scent is lovely.

The complete list of the products for May 2016 Beauty Box:

  • Loreal Colour Riche La Lacque Lip Pen
  • Laneige Water Bank Moisture Cream
  • CeraVe Unscented Facial Foaming Cleanser
  • Boreal Sublime Bronze Self-Tanning Towel
  • Andalou Naturals Resveratrol  Q10 Night Repair Cream
  • Hair Food Sulfate Free Kiwi Dry Shampoo
  • Burt’s Bees Oil Cleanser
  • Egyptian Magic All Purpose Skin Cream
  • Derma E Firming Moisturizing Cream
  • $5 off $15 voucher

Scents of Spring

FullSizeRender.jpg

Now that spring is in full swing, I’ve officially put away all things winter and even switched out my favorite perfumes. Springtime florals are some of my all time favorites. For day time scents I’ve really been loving Christian Dior Miss Dior Blooming Bouquet and Flora Gucci Glorious Mandarin.  Valentina by Valentino has been my go-to night time scent. These scents are floral, light and the bottles just look lovely on my vanity which is an added bonus:)

FullSizeRender-3.jpg

Christian Dior Miss Dior Blooming Bouquet is a wonderful twist from the Miss Dior scent which my sister, Ry, is a fan of. I think it is more of a winter scent. Blooming Bouquet is lighter and more floral with notes of Sicilian Orange Essence, Pink Peony, Damascus Rose, White Musks.

FullSizeRender-2.jpg

Flora Gucci Glorious Mandarin is one of the four Gucci Flora scents. I got this after purchasing one of the Sephora perfume sampler sets. The box came with about 15 samples and a voucher for a full sized bottle of perfume. This scent is also a floral, which is what I’m usually drawn to with notes of Mandarin, Pina Colada Accord, Jasmine, Creamy Wood, White Musk. Now that I see pina colada accord is a note in the perfume, I can really pick out the note!

FullSizeRender-1.jpg

Valentina by Valentino would be my night time scent with its notes of Calabrian bergamot, white alba truffle, amber, and cedar, it is stronger and lingers longer than the other two. There are also notes of Amalfi orange blossom, tuberose, jasmine, and wild strawberry that keep it fresh and light for springtime.

What are your favorite scents for spring?

Hello, SUNSHINE!

Target Beauty Box (April 2016)

Beauty boxes and subscription boxes have exploded the past few years. Monthly boxes with sweet products delivered to your door are VERY appealing, however they can get pretty pricey. I used to lust for the Birchbox, but being a student, it is so not practical or even possible for me to subscribe to this service.

So when Target launched their beauty boxes, I was pumped! First and foremost, who doesn’t love Target? Second, I don’t have to subscribe, I just need to hit up target.com and order one when they’re ready! Thirdly, you know what you are purchasing since Target lists all the products that will be in the box. My sister and I have purchased a few boxes these past months, but we definitely missed some good boxes. They sell out super fast, so you have to stay alert at the beginning of each month.

It’s easy to see why they sell out super fast. Aforementioned, the boxes do not require any sneaky subscription service that can cause you to be charged when you forget to opt out and you order yours directly from the website. They also come equipped with a coupon for $5 off $15 a beauty purchase, which is very useful when you play with the products from the box and you want more! Most notably, the boxes are very affordable, and I mean it, especially as a college student. There is also free shipping.

My sister and I each purchased our own beauty box for $7 each.

IMG_3469.JPG

Upon opening the box, there’s a cute little note. I appreciate being called sunshine, hehe. This is where the coupon is also attached.  On a side note, the boxes are very sturdy and I reuse all of my boxes for storage and the tissue paper for gift giving.IMG_3474.JPGThis month’s box came with some Simple wipes, in a very portable size, useful for us girls on the go. You can also see some sunscreen, which is great for summer sun that’s finally coming after finals (>:[)!IMG_3477.JPGI was lucky got a Covergirl lipstick in a cute color, Spellbound (325), but my sister received a very nude color that’s not a flattering for our skin tone.

IMG_3476.JPGHere is the full layout of everything in the box! This is the second time I’m receiving products from Laneige. From this, I was able to try out this brand and love it! I would never purchase it on my own directly (not the cheapest brand out there), so here is a personal thank you to Target for letting me try out an awesome brand! Rese and I are planning on saving our masks for our long haul flight this summer.

Everything in the box:

  1. Simple Cleansing Facial Wipes
  2. CeraVe Healing Ointment
  3. Marlowe No. 022 Body Butter
  4. Hawaiian Tropic Island Sport (SPF 30)
  5. Maybelline Dream Velvet Foundation
  6. Laneige Water Bank Soothing Mask
  7. Pantene AIRspray Hair Spray
  8. Covergirl Colorlicious Lipstick

So, I think $7 for all of these products is a swell deal. The lipstick by it self would be about $7 anyways.

Also, I’m a huge ebates users so to save even a bit more money, I get cash back on ordering from target.com (and other online orders). If you don’t have an ebates, sign up here! EBATES

Ry
